Frequently Asked Questions about Advanced Climate Control® Heat & Humidity Moisturizing Gel – Stronger Hold

1. What hair types is Advanced Climate Control® Heat & Humidity Gel – Stronger Hold designed for?

This gel is formulated specifically for all curly hair types, providing a firm hold, moisture protection and preventing unwanted frizz. It’s suitable for both fine and thick hair, helping to form crisp curls without weighing it down.

2. What are the main benefits of using Advanced Climate Control® Heat & Humidity Gel – Stronger Hold?

The main benefits are strong and long-lasting hold, moisture protection with Anti-Frizz Nano Technology®, frizz and frizz prevention, shine and moisturization. The gel also helps protect hair from damage and contains a UV filter. It is free of silicones, parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, phthalates and petroleum products and is cruelty-free.

3. How does the Anti-Frizz Nano Technology® in the gel work?

Anti-Frizz Nano Technology® is based on sericin, a protein derived from silk. These nanomolecules penetrate the hair cuticle, locking moisture inside and creating an invisible barrier that repels moisture from the environment, thus preventing frizz.

4. How to properly apply Advanced Climate Control® Heat & Humidity Gel – Stronger Hold for best results?

For best results, we recommend using Ouidad‘s “Rake & Shake” technique. Divide damp hair into sections. Apply a small amount of gel to each section, distributing it evenly from roots to ends. Then, holding the ends of your hair in each section, shake it out to form curls. Allow hair to dry naturally or blow dry with a hair dryer with a diffuser. For added moisture and improved results, we recommend pre-treating with Advanced Climate Control® Featherlight Styling Cream, and finishing with Mongongo Oil Multi-Use Curl Treatment to lock in the curl shape.

5. Will Advanced Climate Control® Heat & Humidity Gel – Stronger Hold leave hair feeling “crunchy” (cast)?

Yes, this gel provides a strong hold that can feel “cast” on the hair after drying. However, this effect is easily remedied by “breaking” the caste – gently squeeze the hair from bottom to top to make the curls soft and moveable while maintaining definition and shape.

6. How does Advanced Climate Control® Heat & Humidity Gel – Stronger Hold differ from AG Liquid Effects Gel?

Both are lightweight, liquid gels that provide a strong hold and have an anti-frizz effect. However, the Ouidad Gel contains more moisturizing ingredients such as oils and shea butter as well as four different polyquaterniums (moisture-fighting ingredients), while the AG Gel contains one polyquaternium and water-soluble silicone, which can also help fight moisture. Some users note that the Ouidad gel provides a slightly stronger hold and may give a little more shrinkage to the hair, while the AG gel may be a little lighter and give a little more volume, but may see a little more frizz by the end of the second day.

7. Can Advanced Climate Control® Heat & Humidity Gel – Stronger Hold help with high humidity?

Yes, Advanced Climate Control® Heat & Humidity Gel – Stronger Hold is specially formulated to fight humidity. Anti-Frizz Nano Technology® with Sericin creates a barrier that helps block moisture from the air from entering the hair, thus preventing frizz and maintaining curl definition even in high humidity.

8. Can Advanced Climate Control® Heat & Humidity Gel – Stronger Hold be used without additional styling products?

Yes, the gel can be used effectively on its own to provide hold and frizz control. However, for best results and extra moisturization, the manufacturer recommends using it in combination with other products in the Advanced Climate Control® line, such as an indelible conditioner before applying the gel and an oil to finish styling. Using the gel without additional products allows you to better appreciate its own properties and level of fixation, especially when you need a strong fixation in high humidity conditions.
